All of the funds raised on the day will go towards the creation of a children and young people’s cancer unit at the Leicester Royal Infirmary. This will include dedicated upgraded space for children up to 13 years including a playroom and televisions.
Gareth Roberts, CEO at the County FA said, “It’s an absolute pleasure to be able to support such a worthy cause and host this charity match at Holmes Park. The football family can play a major role in contributing to local communities and in helping raise money for extremely worthy causes. I would like to encourage as many people as possible to come along to the day and make it as successful as possible for Our Space”.
Mark Gibbard of Thurmaston Magpies FC said, “Thurmaston Magpies are pleased to be able to help the Our Space Appeal, as a big club it’s great to be able to give something back. We are also doing this for Lucy Betts a young girl who goes to Roundhill College, in Thurmaston. She is suffering the effects of cancer herself and has been involved in raising money for Our Space Appeal in the past.
We are all very proud to be able to play this match for Lucy and the charity and with the help of Leicestershire and Rutland County FA hope to raise a lot of money and awareness, we also hope a lot of young people benefit from the money raised. Lastly I would ask that people come and support the day, we would appreciate the support”.
Holmes Park will open at 12.00pm on the Saturday with drinks and food being available during the day. Please do come along and support and contribute to this worthy cause.
